Good Life Craft Event

What, what?! There’s going to be a Good Life craft event on Monday at the Broad River Rd. location. 11-1. Totally free. And, you can shop while you are there! Does it get better? I’m planning to make a Spring wreath with thrifted items from Goodwill. So, mark your calendar– I would love for you to stop by!

Oh, Deer…

From the moment I saw the diy deer head on 4 Men 1 Lady, I was captivated. Something about hanging an animal head on your wall that did not, in fact, once belong to a living, breathing animal, is so appealing. I think it’s chic and eclectic and, somehow, warm and personal. Anyway…

Did you make a floral letter after my post on Monday? If so, this is a great way to use your leftover foam board.

Download the template here.

Cut out the pattern…

and trace them onto your piece of foam board. Cut out your pieces using a craft knife. If you can find foam board without a glossy coating, it is much easier to cut.

Then, fit all your pieces together! You can use a picture hanging kit to attach it to the wall. I think I may attach mine to my bookcase.

I hope you have a great Wednesday!

DIY: Floral Letter

Happy Monday! I hope your weekend was fun and relaxing and filled with crafting and chocolate (Or the combination of the two? Even better.).

I like the look of decorative letters. I already have one…or three. Recently, my sister made one with paper rosettes on it. And, it was the bomb (Can I still use that term?). It made me start thinking about making a similar one with fabric rosettes.

Ready? Let’s go…

I googled “K template” and printed and cut out the largest one I saw.

Then, I traced it onto a piece of foam board (that I picked up for .99) and cut it out using a craft knife.

I bought this long sleeve knit shirt at Goodwill on my latest trip. It’s super soft and a medium weight.

I cut strips from the length of the sleeves. I think I used about a sleeve and a half. Hilarious measurement.

I twisted the strips into rosettes and, let me tell you–I am pretty sure that jersey makes the best rosettes! I definitely foresee using it again.

I used hot glue to tack it to my foam letter. And, keep on rolling rosettes and gluing them down! And, yes, the K is on a cutting board. It’s pretty much the perfect thing to hot glue on. After all, I already ruined the top of my kitchen table. : )

What do you think?

I think it’s adorable. Aqua, girly…a great accessory for a bookshelf or even a windowsill.

DIY: T-shirt Sleeve Headband

Are we all in agreement that a white tee is the best color tee? Ever? Think about it. White tee and yoga pants? Cute. White tee and shorts with some bright jewelry? Cute. White tee dressed up with jeans and wedges? Even better. Today, let’s talk about using an old white t-shirt to make a headband (I must be in a t-shirt headband mood)…

No, I didn’t iron this t-shirt for this tutorial. Because…it’s a white t-shirt. I fully give you permission to not iron your white t-shirts. : )

To start, cut off the sleeve.

Trim a little off of each side to make the width that you want your headband to be.

To make a little gather in the headband, sew a loose stitch by hand.

Then, pull the thread (make sure it is tied off on both ends).

On to the flowers…

Cut a circle…a few circles…out of felt.

Cut the circles into spirals…

…and glue the layers together.

Then, hot glue them to your headband! You can do as many or as few as you’d like. I wish I could say that I came up with this tutorial because it is so stinkin’ cute, but I saw it here. : )

Say, what? You like my deer head? Well, stick around because I plan on sharing that tutorial with you next week! ; )

My Cleaning Schedule

I am not the most domestic person in the world. Don’t get me wrong– I like to craft (obviously), I like to feed my family nutritious meals, and I like a clean house. But, I don’t actually enjoy the process of cleaning. Then again, how many people do? Sometimes I get in a cleaning mood, but more times than not, I’d rather not scrub the tub. : )

I used to let it pile up and then do all my cleaning in one day–and, it would take all. day. long. I would let my laundry pile up and then spend an entire Saturday washing clothes. The problem with the style of housekeeping is that is leaves you exhausted once a week. My husband suggested that I just spend an hour a day cleaning instead of letting it pile up, so I wouldn’t get so tired (Don’t worry, he pulls his fair share in other ways.). He was so right. I made a chore schedule that I am sharing with you, so feel free to print it!

Maybe this sounds so crazy simplistic that you are laughing at me. And, if so, that’s totally fine. But, this works for me. I don’t stick to it every day, but it’s definitely easier when I do.

What is your cleaning routine? Any tips or suggestions? Send them my way!!

Enjoying the Good Life,

Kendra
